Rhytidectomy is for those who are experiencing sagging skin in the neck, jowls and face. There are many permutations of this procedure but all aim to result in a more youthful neck and facial appearance. It can be combined with Blepharoplasty and fillers may also be employed to restore lost facial volume at the same time. This is done under general anaesthetic.
Generally an incision is made from the temporal hairline, skirting the ear and ending in the hairline behind the ear. The length and placement of the incision will vary slightly patient to patient. Only hair in the removed skin is lost permanently and no shaving of the hair is needed.
The male facelift is similar in performance and extent however a reasonable amount of hair is required to conceal the scars.
Drains are frequently used overnight.
